Personal Info
Born and grew up in Success Village Laventille P.O.S
Trinidad W.I "Caribbean", Anthony Guppy ( the youngest of
five brothers) has been exposed to steeldrum music at a very
young age.
Anthony first started playing the steeldrums in his
eldest brother's (Herman Guppy) band ; the members
consisted of family and friends.
Herman is the one that introduced the
steel drum to Anthony and other members of the
family.
( Note ; Laventille is said to be the birth place of the steelpans.)
Steelbands
He then joined some of the larger steelbands
ie:*Harmonites,*Valley-harps,*Angel-Harps,Casablanca,*Pandemonium,
*Sound Specialist and *Bp Amoco Renegades........Performing at concerts,
music festivals,and at"Trinidad & Tobago National Panorama"(the largest
and most famous steelpan show in the world ).
Soloist / Performances
In 1994 Anthony Guppy won the the prestigious national"soloist skill
contest "(pan ramajay) for steelpan musicians held in Trinidad & Tobago .
1995 : Best steelpan player "Scouting for Talent"Trinidad & Tobago's
National Talent Contest.
Also represented Trinidad & tobago at the 20th International Trade
Fair held in Bogata ,Columbia (Soloist).
Performed at the Milwaukee-summer festival with the Pandigenous
band(1995-1997-1999)
Disneyland other theme parks in California with the Trinidad & Tobago
Show-boat Band.
Other performances (Events) in the USA ; Florida, Houston, New-york
,California- Las Vegas....Also Europe and Asia ;Germany,sweden,Denmark
and japan.
Composing / Influences
His love of Composing music is something which has also grown over
the years....In 1998 he wrote "The Chosen" which was recorded and sung
by vocalist *Shirlane Hendrickson (lady wonder).
The following year 1999 he wrote "Pan man on tenth avenue" which was
recorded and sung by *Eunice Peters.
Among some of Guppy's original compositions are:*Overdrunk blues,
"Samba-man" and "Sweet talk me"
Although Guppy's playing has no boundaries in terms of music styles,
He loves blending the many rhythms of the caribbean with the influences
of global music into his improvisation and compositions.

Guppy has acquired a lot of his musical knowledge from working
and performing with some of the top entertainers in Trinidad & Tobago ;
*Robert Monroe,*Rudy Smith,*Jason Baptiste,*Ken'professor'Philmore,
*Clive "Zanda" Alexander ,*Ralph Davies,*Terrance Shaw,*Earl Rodney,
*Sean Thomas *Curtis & Felix Ruiz .
Guppy has also performed and recorded with Calypso legend Aldwyn
Roberts known as the"Grand master"of calypso.
*Len' boogsie' Sharpe ;known as the world Greatest steelpan player.
*Joe Cea ;A New York jazz pianist who has accompanied such artists
as Dizzy Gillespie and Kenny Burrell etc.
*Stanley Gilbert ;Claifornian Jazz bassist and Producer(base in Japan).
